National Sports Festival Will Be Olympic Standard Says Dalung

The Minister of Youths and Sports Development Barrister. Solomon Dalung revealed that the upcoming National Sports Festival will be world Olympic standard.Sportswaka reports 

Dalung made the assertion on Tuesday during a joint world press conference  between the FCTA and the sports ministry ahead of the biennial event adding that the organization and the welfare of the athletes will be inline with  international best practices 

“I assure Nigerians that the National Sports Festival will be an Olympic standard event, from the medals, to the organization of the festival down to the officiating of the games and the welfare of the athletes”.He opined 

“We produced doping control information and education materials fo athletes, coaches, technical and accompanying officials; distributed the festival general rules and regulations to all stakeholders” he  added 

The 19th edition of the national sports festival tagged “ABUJA 2018, “World Series Edition” is expected to see 40 sporting events which will commence from December 6th to 16th at the Abuja National Stadium.

A total of 8,861 participants comprising 7, 227 athletes, 710 coaches, 332 team officials and 602 state delegates from 35 states and FCT as Ebonyi state failed to participate during the Delegation Registration Meeting (DMR). 

All Participating states are expected to storm Abuja today ahead of the opening ceremony tomorrow at the Main Bowl of the National Stadium Abuja.
