The Lagos state men’s cricket team emerged champions of the 2018 National Sports Festival after they defeated their Kaduna state counterparts at the package B of the Abuja National stadium on Friday to win the gold medal.
The match did leave to its billing as pundits have predicted as the victory was a narrow one
Lagos won the toss and elected to bat scoring 114 runs after 20 overs with the lost of 9 wicket in the first inning. In the second innings Kaduna played 108 runs with the lost of 6 wicket after 20 overs. Lagos then won the match by 6 runs.
On Saturday, the day began with the women third place match between FCT vs Lagos. Lagos won the Toss and elected to Bat. In the 1st Innings, Lagos scored 126 Runs for the loss of 3 Wickets!
In the 2nd Innings: FCT scored 112 Runs All Out after 18.5 Overs. The Lagos ladies then emerged winners by 14 Runs to win the Bronze Medal
The Man of the Match award went to Ruth Ayannaike of Lagos State who Scored 49 Runs Not Out off 47 Balls & got 3 Wickets for 23 Runs in 4 Overs.
Kehinde Olabinwonnu and Enesi Amoto were the Umpires while Joel Kelechi was the Scorer.
In the final match of the women category between Edo state and Jigawa state team, Edo won the Toss & elected to Bat.
In the 1st Innings, Edo scored 118 Runs for the loss of 8 Wickets after 20 Overs!
And in the2nd Innings, Jigawa scored 77 Runs All Out after 18.3 Overs! Edo won by 41 Runs to win the gold medal.
The Man of the Match: Agatha Obulor of Edo State who Scored 25 Runs Not Out off 33 Balls and got 2 Wickets for 13 Runs in 3.3 Overs.
Taiwo Oladunjoye and Wale Adeoye were the Umpires while Joel Kelechi was the Scorer.
