Nigeria’s elite gymnast, Halir Muhammed Ridwan has revealed reasons behind his successful outing at the recently concluded National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abuja.
Hair who made his debut at the biennial event helped Team Bauchi clinch the gold medal at the floor exercise which is described at the popular event as an impressive performance, amassing 14.80 points out of 15 points to return as the country’s number one.
He further went on to claim the Sliver medal in the Vult event with a 3.50 point.
In a chat with LEADERSHIP sports, Ridwan ascribed his success at the 2018 Abuja games to his self motivation and determination.
“I have been saying to myself that my first national would not just be there to witness, I’m coming to win.
“And at the end I came first in a popular event which is known as the floor exercise”
According to him “ I got motivated though I didn’t make it to the All African Youth Games At Algeria so I promised myself that I would use this opportunity to show what I’m made off” he noted.
The Abuja based gymnast said his target is be a podium finish gymnast at the upcoming All African Games in Morocco and to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
“Am working hard with the help of my coach, because I want to win medals at the All African Games come 2019 in Morocco for Nigeria and to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games” he concluded.
