Team Nigeria will begin her quest for medals in the first ever Nigeria Taekwondo International open in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) later today.
The open sanctioned by the global taekwondo governing body (WTF) is scheduled to take off inside the Velodrome of the Abuja National Stadium today, February 8, 2019, and would climax on Sunday, February 10, 2019.
Recall that the World Taekwondo Federation had given the competition a G1 international ranking.
Sportswaka gathered that most of the registered countries and the World Taekwondo Delegate have arrived the nation’s capital ahead of the games yesterday.
According to the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation Technical Director Chika Chukuwmerije, Guadelouape, Ghana, Niger Republic, and Togo arrived. The Niger Republic arrived with a 37-person contingent.
“Mali’s full team completed their accreditation alongside three athletes from the Niger Republic.
“International Referees started arriving – World Taekwondo African Head of Referees [Aly Nour of Egypt]; 9-Taekwondo Black Belt and World Taekwondo Class 1 Referee [Grandmaster Singh Vohra of UK]; Seynabou Diouf of Senegal, Ibrahim Issa Samsou and Hamza Sadikou Sani of Niger Republic; and Chantel Anoh of Cote D’Ivoire.”
“Also, the Local Teams and Clubs from Lagos, Osun, Kebbi, NSCDC, and Michael Opara University, Oyo have also arrived.”
“As more Arrivals of International Athletes, National Athletes, International Referees [from Lesotho, Togo, Kenya, Egypt and Nigeria, Representative of World Taekwondo Africa from Nigeria” he concluded.
