NPFL: Kwara United On Revenge Mission With MFM Scalp

Kwara United head coach, Abubakar Bala has asserted that he is still haunted by the result of their first leg fixture against MFM in Lagos and has tasked his players not to negotiate anything other than the three points in Ilorin on Sunday.

The Harmony Boys gaffer has reiterated his team’s ambition to repay the Olukoya Boys in their own coin when the return leg holds in Ilorin

The Olukoya Boys dazed the Harmony Boys 2-0 at the Agege Stadium in their initial fixture in a game Bala stressed then that they didn’t deserve to lose had his players not been wasteful in the final third when they got their chances in the game.

Ahead of the return leg at the Kwara State Sports Complex this weekend, Bala disclosed that besides seeking revenge against Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men he also wants his boys to return to winning ways after their away loss to Sunshine Stars in Akure last weekend in another game he thought a draw would have been a fair result with what his boys displayed against the Owena Whales.

“This is a very crucial game for us and I have told my players that we can’t afford to joke with it,” Bala told GOAL.

“MFM were quite lucky they took their chances in the first game in Lagos and after what we have done during the training sessions we have had this week, the objective has been on ensuring that we convert our chances better because we may not be presented with many against them. It was another disappointing experience for us in Akure because it was a game we played very well and could easily have walked away with a point.

“We must try our best to play a good game and ensure that MFM ends the game on Sunday with a defeat. We are not where we can be proud of in the league table and only a home win will take us away from the relegation zone. We are doing our utmost to finish the league season away from the drop zone and if we are sincere with that, we need to win games like that of MFM and others.”

Kwara United are currently in the 10th position in the NPFL Group A with 15 points from 12 games but they still have a fixture at hand against Enugu Rangers in Ilorin.
