Nigeria Has More Talented Players Than Any Country – Ojekunle

The United Kingdom-based coach Folabi Ojekunle, has said that Nigeria has more talented football players than any of the European countries. 

    Coach Folley  as popularly called,  who spoke to Sportswaka.com opined that Nigeria has natural born talented players, but they are been edged by their foreign counterparts because of their well-managed administrative and organizational structures.

“We teach basics in the UK from age 4 upwards but a natural Nigeria born kids can do lots of unbelievable things with the ball without been taught,” he said.

 “Nigeria is lacking behind because in terms of administrative and organization the European countries are far better than us if we can put our house in order I strongly believe that Nigeria can rule the world at the biggest stage”.

The UEFA B license coach and former ABS F.C chief coach further stated the need to revamp the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to international best practices, adding that some of the UK based coaches are willing to work in Nigeria if there are enabling environment for them.

 “The NPFL needs sponsors that will take the league to the next level in terms of branding, insurance, security, players and coaches welfare, players marketing, transfers market.

 According to him “Officiating has been my major concern in the league but in fairness, NPFL has improved tremendously in my own opinion I now see teams getting a point or points away from home but there are still lots to be done” .

“Some of  us are willing to comeback to work in the Nigerian national teams and leagues if the environment is make available, with the massive experience we have gotten aboard, it will  be helpful for the development of the game in Nigeria” he concluded.
