FG Inaugurates MOC For 2020 National Sports Festival

The Federal Government through the Ministry of Youth and sports Development yesterday inaugurated the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) for the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged Edo 2020.

The 20th edition of the national sports festivals is scheduled to run from March 22nd to April 1st  2020 in the ancient Benin City, Edo state.

The 19-man MOC has the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr Olusade Adesola as the Chairman and His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Edo State Mr Philip Shuaibu as Vice Chairman.

During the inauguration ceremony held in Abuja, the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, charged the MOC to ensure that they deliver the best ever biennial games to Nigerians while expressing  his confident that the committee will leave up to it mantle.

“I wish to observe that organisation of the national sports festival is a gigantic and tasking assignment which must be tackled with the required commitment and dedication to ensure that the Games is delivered successfully” he said.

” This was in keeping with the determination of the Federal Ministry of Youth & Sports Development to ensure that the Games does not suffer any setbacks or postponements as was the case with the 18th NSF” .

However, Dalung commended the Edo state government on the level of readiness ahead of the games.

“Edo State has so far, demonstrated a very high level of enthusiasm, commitment and fervour to host a unique and worthy Festival. My last visit to the sports facilities in the state has shown that the

Executive Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki is ready to host the country.”

In his acceptance speech the Chariman of the MOC Mr Olusade Adesola, who is the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth & Sports Development thanked the minister and vowed on behalf of the committee to deliver on the responsibilities assigned to them.

“Having come out successfully with the organization of the 19th edition last her in Abuja, we are confident with God on our side and the experience of the members of the committee and support from stakeholders the games will be huge success” he said.

The MOC held its inaugural meeting immediately after its inauguration.
