Milo Basketball Championship: Central Conference Winners To Emerge Today

The 21st Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship, Central Conference will today have new champions in both the male and female categories. 

In the semi-final matches played yesterday at the Indoor Sports Complex, College of Education, Niger State, Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State defeated Government Girls Unity College, Birnin-Kebbi 51-2 in the female category to set up a final clash with Government Secondary School, Karu FCT who had earlier defeated Government Girls Science College, Bida 26-18.

While in the male category, Father O’Connell Science College Minna of Niger State defeated Government Secondary School, Karu 35-25 while Christ Comprehensive College, Kaduna battled hard to defeat Akpur College, Gboko 50-46.

With this result, the Minna based school will fight for honours against the kaduna based school.

It will be noted that the championship was divided into conferences according to the geographical location of the states.

Each state produced a male and a female champion including the FCT while the state champions have played in the four regional conferences where they have vied for spaces in the National finals billed for the National stadium Lagos from June 27 to July 4, 2019.

Speaking ahead of the final, the coach of the Government Secondary School Gboko, Aker Tench Tewase said his team will be going all out for the trophy.

“So far we are doing well With the level of training I have given them, I don’t think there will be anything like fatigue when we play in the final, and we are going all out for the trophy” he said.

“They have the fighting spirit and team work to do the job in the final”he added.
