Dalung Inaugurates LOC For Guinness World Record Boxing Bout

Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Barr Solomon Dalung yesterday inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee for the Bash Ali Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight.

The 63-year-old Cruiserweight boxer is expected to fight a 23-year-old American in a bout that is expected to set a new world boxing record

The sports minister while speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, applauded the project adding that it will further place the nation in good light in the world map. “I called on the LOC and all Nigerians, particularly the private sector to support Bash Ali fight, it will not only inspire our boxers to believe in themselves but will support the efforts to rebrand and improve the Nigeria’s Image internationally” he said

Bash Ali therefore expressed his readiness ahead of the bout adding that his fitness is in no doubt.

“I am happy that the Guinness book of records fight is coming to reality in Nigeria, the fight has supposed to happened 16 year ago, but because of corruption and bad administration it was not staged but am happy it is going to be staged in the proper way in Nigeria.

“The fight will be 3 months from now because promoters need to make the awareness of the fight all over the world.”

According to him “Their is not doubt about my fitness I have been tested from the hair of my head to the nails of my toe I have been give a clear bill of health, which called a medical miracle, that is why the fight will be seen all over the world because of it magnitude.”

The 22-man committee which is headed by Barrister Solomon is “To galvanize all resources through support and funding, marketing and promotion to meet the demand of the approving boxing union logistics and event management”.
