Beach Volleyball Open Will Discover Talents For Nigeria – Onikeku

The Secretary-General of Nigeria Customs Service’ Sports Unit, Samuel Onikeku said the upcoming Beach Volleyball Open Challenge will further discover talents for the country ahead of international competitions. 

Onikeku stated this ahead of the first edition of the Beach Volleyball Open Challenge scheduled to run from Saturday 8th to Sunday 9th June 2019 in Abuja.

According to him, beach volleyball is getting more attention in the country, hence there is a need to create more awareness of the sport adding that his dream is to unearth more beach volleyball players for Nigeria.

“I am organising beach Volleyball competitive because I have the dream of discovering more players for Nigeria; it is an event that just needs two people in the team which makes it less expensive,” he said.

“The beach volleyball team in Nigeria has been doing well at the World Championships in the female category so the competition will bring more awareness and improvement for Volleyball players”

He noted that Nigeria can dominate the sport at the World Level “Nigeria has what it takes to rule beach volleyball in the world in the nearest future. With more programme of this nature and more support to the Federation in terms of organising competitions, the standard of the game will improve” he concluded.
