World Champions Pledges To Support Cycling Devt In Nigeria

Former world Cycling Champion, Giorgia Bronzini has pledged to supports the development of the sports in Nigeria.

The Italian champion, Bronzini is leading two other renowned world champions to the maiden Africa Track Cycling Championships in Abuja to inspire future champions which will run from today to Sunday  28th  2019.

The three-time United Cycling International (UCI) world champion, Bronzini who spoke to LEADERSHIP sports ahead of the commencement of the games said that Nigeria has a lot of potentials to conquer the world if properly harmonized.

“Nigeria has what it takes to do well in cycling at the world stage, because Nigeria is ranked in top in the UCI rankings classification and will be nice to see them compete at the world stage in Germany and I will be on ground to give them advice which will further strengthen the development of cycling in Nigeria “she said.

In the same vein, two-time UCI world champion Roberto Chiappa, also opined that Nigeria has one of the best facilities in the world for the sports.

“Nigeria has one of the best Velodrome in the world which is a really good thing and the standard is top-notch, I cannot wait for the competitions to start to see the best of cycling in Africa,” he said.

On his parts, former Italy national team member, Andrea Tonti, lauded the cycling federation led by Giandomenico Massari for his passion to development game in the Africa continent adding he will be looking out for team Nigeria performance at the games

The two former world champions are expected to participate in an exhibition contest involving present and former world champions of the games to inspire the youth for that task ahead.
