The draws for the 2019 Remita Corporate Champions Cup (RC3) was yesterday held in Lagos as defending champions, FrieslandCampina lock horns against telecommunication giant, MTN.
The other opening round of eight fixtures will pitch last year’s runner-up, FCMB slug it out against NEM Insurance as former champions, Nestle Nigeria battle Union Bank, while 2017 champions, IHS Nigeria clash against Unilever.
Speaking during the press conference and draws of the fifth annual corporate football tournament, legendary former Super Eagles goalkeeper and tournament ambassador, Peter Rufai said that while the previous editions enjoyed remarkable success the 2019 edition would surpass all four editions.
He said he also anticipates a championship that would engender and strengthen camaraderie among the participating players, teams, organisations, supporters and other individuals across various walks of life.
The Managing Director, SystemSpecs, John Obaro said that the RC3 will continue to promote team bonding, inter-company networking and wellness among employees from different firms, in a stress-free manner.
According to him, “As always, we strongly believe that work-life balance is a necessity and can substantially contribute to a healthier, productive workforce. This is therefore a pivotal reason we have been a part of this tournament since its inception.
“More so, we are convinced that a nation with a workforce able to minimise its time and energy for work and other important aspects of their life would be able to immeasurably contribute to national growth and advancement,” Obaro added.
The tournament is set to kick off at the Sports Pavilion of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, every Sunday from August 18 to September 1, 2019.
