Nigeria’s D’Tigers have left the city of Wuhan for Guangzhou where they’ll begin competition for classification and possibly a ticket for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The classification is all about ranking. In basketball, teams are ranked from the first to the last. The teams that failed to advance to the second round will be playing the classification games.
Though Nigeria are out of the medals bracket, D’Tigers now move to Group M in Guangzhou along with Cote d’Ivoire, China and South Korea for the Classification Round 17-32.
Nigeria face Cote D’Ivoire tomorrow, Friday at the 10,000 capacity Guangzhou Gymnasium and meet China on Sunday.
Time is 9am.
The D’Tigers stand a chance of automatically qualifying for the Tokyo Games as the best African side at the World Cup
