Just few months to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic, the Nigeria athletics federation has split into two fractions with the Ibrahim Gusau led fraction declaring autonomy from the sports ministry, while the Olamide George fraction debunked leaving the supervisory ministry.
Meanwhile, the embattled president of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Ibrahim Gusau, said his ready for dialogue.
Speaking at a press conference organised in Lagos on Sunday, the president said that everything they are doing as a board has been with the best interests of athletes in mind and an innate desire to develop athletics in Nigeria.
He added that without athletes, there will be no sports and without sports, there will be no Sports Federation.
He however said they are open to discussion while also calling on all Nigerians to ask questions as there are so many unanswered questions.
