2020 NSF: Edo Govt Vows Digital, Successful Hosting

The Edo State Government has assured a digitalized and successful hosting of the 2020 National Sports Festival (NSF).

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu confirmed this at the 2nd and final joint technical meeting in Benin-City.

Shuaibu who doubles as the Chairman Local Organising Committee (LOC) also stated that 20th edition of the NSF would be organised to ensure the National unity, trust, peace and friendliness which is the universal aim of all sporting activities.

Shuaibu, who represented the Executive Governor, Godwin Obaseki, said that Edo 2020 is very special to the state adding that more sporting events would feature at the games.

‘‘This is not the first time the state is hosting such event, but Edo 2020 is unique in the sense that everything about the event is going to be digitalised’’ he said.

‘‘In its bid to develop sports in the state we decided to build a standard stadium in all the geopolitical zones of the State and 20 mini stadiums across the state’’.

‘‘Our goal is aimed at making Nigeria the biggest black nation through sports. We also agreed to include three extra sports,  golf, canoeing and rowing and traditional sports’’.

On his parts, the Permanent Secretary of ministry sports and also the Chairman Main Organising Committee (MOC) Adesola Olusade, also noted that the ministry is well on course in the actualization of a successful “Edo 2020”.

‘‘Having undertaken another round of inspection of the venues and facilities earmarked for the games, the extent of work that has gone into the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium must be commended’’.

He further stressed on the need for a robust interface between the MOC and the LOC as well as their relevant Sub-Committee as this would lead to timely attainment of the mandate of the games.
