Siasia Seeks FG, NFF Help Over FIFA Life Ban

Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has begged the federal government, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and philanthropists to come to his aid and appeal the life ban slammed on him by FIFA.

FIFA handed life ban to Siasia in August for allegedly agreeing to ‘receive bribe in relation to the manipulation of matches.’

The USA ’94 Super Eagles’ striker is expected to pay 100,000 Swiss Francs (N36,453,400) for his appeal case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and his traveling expenses to Switzerland.

He noted that he was in a mission to clear his name and the image of the country of any wrong doing while calling on meaningful Nigerians to come to his rescue.

“I am crying out to Nigerians and the world at large that despite every effort I am using to push forward my appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) that I have been ruffled, harassed, bruised and pushed on all sides by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). FIFA told the world that I have been banned for life for match-fixing and bribery and that FIFA claimed that I had also taken a ‘bribe,” he said.

“Again, I ask fellow citizens and well-meaning persons across the world to reach out and support my appeal. I am seeking Justice and I am aware that I may even have to go all the way to the Swiss Supreme Court where necessary. Once again, I humbly crave your support. They tried to kick-out my appeal back in October by asking me to pay 100,000.00 CHF but my lawyers were able to negotiate a way around it. Now that this matter is at the hearing stage, I am being threatened with costs if I insist on a public hearing. Please stand with me in support.”

According to him ‘’I need financial help to facilitate the payment of my lawyers, to cover transportation expenses for myself and my legal team in Switzerland. This trip at the moment may not be feasible because of the current lack of funds. I have to do everything within my power and beyond to ensure proper preparation for my appeal. I need your support to get justice and I want the whole world to know about it. I seek your support to help me obtain relief and justice before CAS. I only have my family around me and that family is you’’ he concluded.
