In the U19 girls match, Kogi state battles Shinning Swords in the final after beating Savannah of Gombe in the Semi final. Shinning Sword walked over Adamawa in the second semifinal of the U19 girls.

The coach of Kogi U19 girls, Mary Alauja told newsmen that the young girls have promised to return home with the gold medal.

She commended stakeholders of the game for rally support around the girls.

Alauja said, “The only language the girls understand now is gold. They know that winning the top prize marks the beginning of the success road for them”.

Meanwhile, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod hailed players and coaches present at the President Cup.

He stated that one of the aims of the Cup is to identify age grade beach volleyball players and engage the senior players ahead of international tournaments.

Nimrod said, “Nigeria is the new home of beach volleyball; I want to appreciate the players, coaches and referees present here in Kaduna. This has shown that beach volleyball has relocated back to West Africa. I will do everything possible to encourage the game of volleyball and I am excited the players are eager to play the game in the night because of the new facilities in Kaduna.

“This Cup will help us identify new kids who have the potential of the game and also help in shaping the senior players who are still active”.
