The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr condition for his contract renewal.
According to the NFF president, Amaju Melvin Pinnick in an interview with Arise TV yesterday declared that the Roth’s contract will only be renewed if he accepts the new terms of agreement.
The NFF boss, said that the new terms in Rohr’s contract include that he must reside in country, also Identify and nurtured players in the Nigerian league to become international stars among others.
“We have told him (Rohr) he must live in Nigeria, and that his salary will be paid in Naira (the Nigeria currency). He must go round League venues and see how he can nurture the players. If he is able to accept, we have a deal” he said.
“We will seek legal opinions on international coaches’ contracts. We shall also seek the opinion of the Sports Ministry. He should get the contract (with the new conditions) in about a week’s time so that he can revert after studying it.”
Pinnick also disclosed that if Rohr rejects the new offer, there won’t be any challenge in getting another coach for Nigeria.
“I get calls everyday from coaches that want to come here,” he said
The 66-year-old tactician became the country’s national football team manager in August 2016, as he qualified the three time African champions to the 2018 World Cup in Russia and also winning the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Nations Cup in Egypt among other.
