Sports Ministry Mourns WFN’s President Hon. Yahaya Mohammed

The federal  ministry of youth and sports development have joined the family to mourn the death of President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, Hon. Yahaya Mohammed, whose death occurred on Saturday  April 18 after a brief illness in Kano.

In a statement signed by the  sports ministry’s  Permanent Secretary, Gabriel Aduda, Hon Mohammed  was described as a patriotic leader who wished nothing but progress for his country and to the sport of Weightlifting.

”Yahaya Mohammed will be remembered for his contributions to the sport of Weightlifting. His leadership took the sport to greater heights and opened new vistas. He inspired his Lifters to win the highest number of medals for our nation at any completion ever, 16 Gold, 13 Silver and 18 Bronze medals at the 2019 African Games” he said.

” On behalf of the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, I extend my heart-felt condolences to his family, the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation and the Government and good people of Jigawa State on this irreplaceable loss”.

” May his gentle soul rest in peace”.
