The Bauchi State Football Association (BAFA) has mourned the death of Chairman of the Nigeria National League and Chairman of the Enugu State Football Association Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa.
Okenwa, who was a member of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) died on Tuesday morning at the age of 50 in Enugu, was earlier been diagnosed as having leukaemia
In a statement signed by the Chairman of Bauchi State FA, Patrick Pascal, MON, Mr Okenwa was described as a patriotic leader who wished nothing but progress in football for his country.
Pascal urged families and entire football fraternity to find solace in God, he also prayed God to grant Okenwa’s soul eternal rest and comfort his family.
‘’ We at the Bauchi state FA and all the stakeholders in the state received the news of the death of Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa with a heavy heart, Our deepest condolences go to President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick, the NNL stakeholder and especially, the family of Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa over this tragic loss”.
It is very touching to lose such an impeccable football administrator for many years. May God grant, Enugu State FA, the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
The Bauchi state FA boss who doubles as the Super Eagles Coordinator said ‘‘May God grant his family the strength to absorb the impact of this death, forgive his shortcomings and reward his good deeds in the life after,” he said.
