Rangers jersey number 15 worn by former attacking sensation, late Ifeanyi Onwubiko George, has been officially retired by the management of Rangers International.
A brief ceremony which took place on Tuesday at the players’ camp, in Enugu was attended by players of the club, the chairman and General Manager of the Flying Antelopes, Davidson Owunmi, the Enugu state Commissioner of youth and sports Manfred Nze, who represented Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and family of the late deceased.
A cheque of N 20m was also presented to the family of the late Ifeanyi Onwuwbiko George by the insurance Brokers .
A breakdown shows that Ten million out of the N 20 will be invested in Ifeanyi George’s daughter’s education fund, N8m for the family of the deceased and N2m for the upkeep of the daughter.

Following the untimely death of Ifeanyi George at the onset of the Covid-19 lockdown in the country, the Enugu state governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had approved a proposal by the club’s management to comprehensively insure all players and officials.
Late Ifeanyi Onwubiko George died in a ghastly motor accident along Asaba-Benin express road on March 22, 2020 alongside two other occupants of his vehicle while travelling to Lagos to be with his family after football activities were suspended by the N.F.F due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
