Former captain of Green Eagles, Patrick Olusegun Odegbami,(Nicknamed Mathematical) has said that Gernot Rohr is not a world class coach that is capable of leading the Super Eagles to a continental and world success.

It would be noted that Rohr (66-year-old tactician) became the country’s national football team manager in August 2016, as he qualified the three time African champions to the 2018 World Cup in Russia and also winning the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Nations Cup in Egypt.

Odegbami, while speaking in an online interview on FCT Football Update platform yesterday, noted that the German gaffer cannot deliver trophies for Nigeria at the world biggest stage having saw his performance in two major international football tournaments he led the three times African champions.

“Gernot Rohr May be a good coach, but what are his credentials and where is his coming from. My believe is that anybody coming to coach the Super Eagles now and make us a world class team that are capable of winning the World Cup, must be a world class coach, Rohr who is currently the coach of Super Eagles  cannot deliver that and his not the world class coach we are looking for”.

“Without questions we have seen him for 4years now and what we saw at two critical times in Russia 2018 World Cup and Nation’s Cup in Egypt convinced me that his not the one to led Nigeria to the Eldorado”.

Odegbami who won 46 caps and scored 23 goals for the national team and guided Nigeria to its first Africa nation’s cup title at the 1980 tournament in home soil stated the need why the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to allow ex-internationals head the Super Eagles technical crew.

“ l didn’t think that any white coach should come and coach Super Eagles again not after the generation of Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh, Jay Jay Okocha and the rest, who played at every level, if they can just get the basic qualification, which is not an essential in my own opinion, because they have the qualifications that Rohr doesn’t have”.

“So a Nigerian so take Nigeria to the World Cup not a foreigner who doesn’t understand fully our philosophy, football and psychology and just come here and use is color to intimidate us”.

According to him “These days when black lives matters a lot, the black race should talkcare and promote our own because the white man can’t love us the way we like ourselves, that  is the only way we can succeed” he concluded.
