The chairman of Bauchi State Football Association, (FA) Patrick Pascal, has said that, the COVID-19 FIFA Relief Funds distributed to the states FA will boost the country’s grass- roots football development.
It would be noted that, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had ear- lier released $2 million COVID-19 palliative package from FIFA, CAF and other sponsors to stakeholders as the state’s football association are expected to receive $5000 each from the NFF.
The Bauchi FA boss while speaking to LEADERSHIP Sports yesterday, commended the NFF over the distribution of the funds, adding that it would help in developing the round leather game at the grassroots.
“The leadership of the NFF has displayed a very high degree of transparency in the manner it han- dled the COVID-19 palliatives from its various sponsors by ensuring that all the stakeholders in the football development chain were captured, the funds will aid the state FAs in the development of football in the grassroots.
“We have been trying our best to keep the FA running, so this fund is a big support for us, we want such fund regularly which will be used in developing games which are aimed at discovering new talents”
“Because before someone will mention clubs in Nigeria you have to mention the FA which is the body that oversees the football activities in term of administration and it operations”.
Pascal who doubles as the Super Eagles team coordinator, also vowed that the money will be spent appro- priately and well accounted for by the Bauchi state football association.
“I can assure Nigerians that the money will be spent appropriately for its purpose and would be well accounted for by the Bauchi foot- ball association,” he said.
