16 Teams To Battle For 5Star Football Premier League Title

Towards developing grassroots football in the country, no  fewer than 16 teams are set to battle for the 2020 5Star Football Premier League.

The tournament is expected to kickoff from September 12 to  October 24, 2020in Abuja as the winners are expected to pocket N800, 000.
According to the Chief Executive Officer
5Stars Football and Consultancy Ltd,Olumide Aturu, during a press briefing to herald the tournament in the nation’s capital , all COVID-19 protocols would be observed at the start of the tournament.
He further commended the PTF towards combating the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country adding that the most valuable player and the highest goal scorer would be taken to an all expensive paid trip to Dubai.
“We thank the PTF for the meritorious work in combating the spread of COVID-19 so far and the restart of non contact sport and the opening of recreational centers in the country” he said.
“It’s a five aside football that will be played in a recreation center, so we decided to start the league taking note of all the COVID-19 protocols. Having the face mask on if you’re playing football and social distances, testing and monitoring the players”
According to him “Also we intend to do contact tracing with the COVID-19 app, all these things are being  put in place and this serves as a test run so as to  enable the resumption of football activities in the grassroots  which obviously has been the worst hit so far”.
He further stated the need for the restart of football activities in the country to what is obtainable in the western countries.
“Football is vital to the sustainability of any nation, like other countries have begun football activities, because it’s grassroot based which doesn’t require fans. Albeit ,the players will abide by the standing protocols, that’s why both local and international organizations have supported us”.
“We intend to use this tournament to showcase our stand in the fight against the victimization of the girl child hence Our jersey for the event reads “Say no to Rape” .With the immense support from the  Osasu show,  NAPTIP and the United Nations ( UNESCO), we want to provide not only entertainment but have impact on the audience watching from the comfort of their homes” he added.
