Folabi Ojekunle, head coach of the Na- tionwide League One (NLO) side, Udala FC of Awka, Anambra State, has appealed to the federal government to approve the resumption of football activities which was suspended since March due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP Sports, Ojekunle said the continuous suspension of football activities due to the coronavirus pandemic has affected the stakeholders that depend on the round leather game business for their survival.
“This has affected everyone that got one or two things to do with football. Players, coaches, administrators, football club backroom staff, journalists and even shop owners at the stadium are all
affected. But I believe very soon everything will be back to normal in Nigeria.
“It’s high time Nigerians realise that COVID-19 has come to stay. Allowing political parties to campaign with a mas- sive crowd, worship centers and markets to open and say no to contact sports iS what I don’t understand,’ he said.
Ojekunle, who has had coaching spells with Jegede Babes, Babanawa FC and ABS Ilorin and holds a UEFA B Coaching License, said he’s eager to bring the experience to bear by to lead the Awka based team to success in 2020/21 NLO season.
“It will not be an easy season for us because of the long COVID-19 holiday but we will try our best to put the players in the right shape once we get the right directive from the government and NFF to start the season
