Disclosing this in Abuja Thursday, Fieldoo Nigeria Challenge Director, Coach John Sam Obuh said the new dates became imperative following popular demands by football academies and players who had earlier registered for the challenge as well as interested ones who are very eager to participate in the challenge
Coach Obuh who was the former chief coach of Nigeria’s U-17 and U-20 national male teams, said the new dates will give both the management, registered and intending academies and private players the opportunity to put their acts in order and prepare adequatly for the challenge.
“We are glad to announce the new dates for the maiden Fieldoo Nigeria Challenge Football trials.
“The new dates are from April 5th to 11th, 2021.
“We arrived at the dates after due consideration of a lot issues and the best time for us to have a seamless, smooth trials for the talented Nigeria footballers.
“I must admit that we were under immense pressure by registered and intending football academies who were very enthusiastic and passionate about FIELDOO NIGERIA CHALLENGE project. And after due discussions with our European partners, we have fixed the dates as stated earlier.
“We want to thank the academies and individual players who have registered and also encourage those who have not registered to make the best use of this new dates to come on board,” he said.
It could be recalled that the Nigeria Fieldoo Challenge was earlier scheduled to hold from 5-11 November 2020 but the dates were postponed following the outbreak of youth restiveness in the country as well as Government lifting ban on contact in late October which was too close for a trial of such magnitude to hold.
The challenge is meant for both male and female footballers within the age bracket of 12 and 21.
